Hello,
At the end of April, the Department of Labor finalized its Retirement Security Rule vastly unchanged from the original proposal, despite meaningful input from thousands of annuity professionals highlighting its flawed approach. In response, congressional critics of the rule announced May 15 that they are moving forward with an attempt to block the rule from taking effect.
Several high-profile senators and representatives introduced a resolution of disapproval under the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to overturn what they claim is
“a flawed rule from the DOL that would endanger financial choice and access.”
In partnership with NAFA, we urgently ask you to contact your elected officials in Washington, D.C. asking them to cosponsor these resolutions and prevent a fiduciary-only regime from upending independent distribution.
With few options left to stop this dangerous rule from being implemented Sept. 23, 2024, it is imperative that Congress hears from as many impacted constituent stakeholders as possible. Accordingly, we are asking you, others from your company, and any related business partners, uplines or downlines to use the link below to file letters encouraging CRA support from your respective House and Senate representatives. It will only take a few minutes of your time on NAFA's seamless outreach platform to help make our voices heard and our message clear! To review a summary of the DOL's final rule, access a copy of NAFA's recently prepared summary guide.
Thank you for your support and commitment to protecting the future of fixed annuities!
